Innovative solution for complex packaging requirements
The packaging industry is increasingly faced with complex requirements that demand maximum precision and safety. A current project at DS Smith in Tilburg shows how even seemingly impossible tasks can be mastered through technological innovation and close cooperation.
The challenge:
XXL corrugated board sheets in the tightest of spaces
Our customer DS Smith in Tilburg was faced with a special challenge: corrugated cardboard sheets up to eight meters long had to be strapped in a very confined space - while maintaining all the prescribed safety distances from the machine. In addition, a so-called "dressing point" was to be integrated for the manual preparation of the pallet.
A task that proved to be extremely challenging. Numerous providers rejected the implementation and deemed the project unfeasible. But our experts at Mosca took up the challenge.
The solution & results:
Cooperation with Leuze electronic
In close cooperation with Leuze electronic, we developed an innovative solution based on the latest ultrasonic and radar sensor technologies. These sensors enable operators to work directly in front of the strapping machine - with full functionality and maximum safety.
The result: significantly reduced safety distances, even in an existing system that could not have been retrofitted using conventional methods. This enabled us to implement a solution that significantly increases both efficiency and safety.
