Mosca GmbH can look back on a difficult year that was characterized by global challenges. Despite a decline in sales and earnings, the company managed to stay on course and break even - without short-time working and with stable jobs. With a clear focus on sustainability and digitalization, Mosca is planning further steps towards the future in 2025.

In a year characterized by uncertainty and a decline in orders below the previous year's level, Mosca focused on cost control and efficiency. "We had to sail on sight in 2024, but we stayed the course despite the rough seas," emphasizes Alfred Kugler. However, the outlook for the future is optimistic: further investments in digital technologies and sustainability are planned for 2025 in order to remain competitive in the long term.

Prizes and awards for technological excellence

The second year of the recession in Germany has made conditions more difficult. Nevertheless, there were also rays of hope for Mosca : Mosca 2024 once again received several awards for its innovative approaches in the areas of Industry 4.0 and sustainability: In addition to the Allianz Industrie 4.0 Baden-Württemberg award, the company received the Digital Champion of the Year award. Mosca is also one of the "Top 100", i.e. the most innovative medium-sized companies in Germany. "Our digital solutions set standards: from intelligent data acquisition to mobile monitoring of machine processes," explains Alfred Kugler.

In 2024, the company presented itself at international trade fairs such as Fachpack in Nuremberg and LogiMAT in Stuttgart, where the focus was on digital innovations and sustainable packaging solutions. "The positive feedback from our customers has strengthened our resolve," says Alfred Kugler.

Sustainability as a central component of the corporate strategy

In 2024, Mosca consistently continued its sustainable orientation. The sustainability report, which the company publishes voluntarily once a year, illustrates the progress made: In 2023, Mosca developed strapping that consists of 60% bio-based, ISCC+-certified material for the first time. "We are aiming to set new standards for sustainability in the packaging industry by 2025," explains Managing Director Simone Mosca. "Our goal is to be the most sustainable provider of packaging solutions."

Anniversary and team spirit characterize the year 2024

Mosca celebrated an important anniversary last year: the subsidiary Movitec Wrapping Systems in Spain looked back on 20 successful years. This milestone underlines Mosca 's global presence and highlights the successful acquisition. "Our team is our greatest asset," emphasizes Simone Mosca. "In 2024, we welcomed 73 new employees, including many specialists and trainees." The traditional Christmas party provided the setting to honor long-serving employees, including Carmen Krumpf and Gerd Schwarz for 40 years of loyalty. "This bond shows that Mosca is more than just a workplace - we are a community," adds Mosca . The introduction of a new company collective agreement also underlines the responsible partnership with employees and the works council.

Promoting young talent: training strategy works

In 2024, the mechanical engineering company from the Odenwald also invested more in training young talent. The learning factory and cooperation with the simpleclub learning platform were further expanded. "Our strategy of recruiting apprentices directly through internships and school partnerships has proven successful. We have already filled 16 apprenticeship and DHBW study places for 2025," reveals Simone Mosca. With 76 trainees and students and a trainee ratio of around 12%, it is clear how well Mosca is positioned in this area.

Overcoming challenges and maintaining optimism

Mosca has ambitious plans for 2025: in addition to further investments in digital technologies and sustainability, the focus is on expanding into new markets. "Mexico and Malaysia play a major role in this. We want to establish ourselves more firmly there and further expand our pioneering role," emphasizes Alfred Kugler. "We are convinced that our strategy puts us in a good position to meet the challenges of the future."
