Mosca at LogiMAT 2024: One-stop store for solutions at the end of the packaging line

Processes at the end of a production line are increasingly digital and networked. But how can this networking be made as smooth as possible? At stand 4D21 in hall 4 at LogiMAT, Mosca GmbH will be showcasing (complete) solutions for strapping and stretch wrapping that can be integrated into higher-level systems. With the KZV-111 and the MovitecSaturn S6 stretchStretch Wrapping Machines , Mosca will be presenting two solutions for securing entire pallets. The SoniXs TR-Connect and MP-6 T , on the other hand, represent the product portfolio for strapping individual packages.

Multi-stage production steps, packaging and finally securing the packages for transportation - especially in industrial areas with high volumes, partial or full automation of the packaging line offers great potential for increasing efficiency and throughput. Smooth integration of all line components is essential. "When different machines come together and need to work together seamlessly, it is crucial that they are compatible with each other and with additional equipment such as conveyor technology," explains Timo Mosca, CEO of Mosca GmbH. "With the SoniXs TR-Connect , we are presenting one of our high-performance machines at LogiMAT that can be easily integrated into complex IoT applications. We will also be using the SoniXs MP-6 T as an application example to show what a fully automated packaging process for our strapping machines with a robotic arm from Pinger Robotic can look like."

Ready for the Internet of Things and high performance

The SoniXs TR-Connect already comes with a comprehensive digital package. As the successor model to the SoniXs TR-6 Pro and SoniXs TR-6 Base, it has been on the market since 2023. It is equipped with an integrated WebHMI as standard and can be operated via a LAN interface on the machine using customer devices or optionally via a tablet attached to the machine. Users can also view important parameters such as performance, current strapping settings and availability and flexibly adapt them to their requirements. The data generated by the machine can also be used to comprehensively evaluate performance and predict maintenance intervals.

The standard interface of the SoniXs TR-Connect makes it possible to integrate it seamlessly into a fully automatic line. Here it can call on its full capacity of up to 45 strapped packages per minute. Thanks to its automatic cycle rate control (ATR), it can also adapt to the throughput speed of upstream machines and processes. If the machine receives information about changing package sizes via sensors or interface signals, it can change product recipes fully automatically.

Integrated into production lines thanks to robotics

With the SoniXs MP-6 TMosca is exhibiting another machine for strapping individual cartons and packages at LogiMAT. As a tabletop model, it is usually loaded manually with packages from a minimum width of 60 centimetres. In the application at LogiMAT, however, the strapping machine requires no human operation at all. The solution: A robotic arm from Pinger Robotic stands alongside the SoniXs MP-6 T and flexibly loads it with small packages. The use of robotics turns a stand-alone machine into part of a fully automated line - a cost-effective option. The robot is also particularly flexible when it comes to transporting the cartons. It can insert them lengthwise or crosswise into the SoniXs MP-6 T as required. If particularly secure cross strapping is required, the robot inserts a package, removes it after strapping, turns it and repositions it in the machine. "Thanks to their high flexibility and small footprint, robotic solutions such as the robotic arm exhibited at LogiMAT can be an exciting alternative to rigid conveyor technology," explains Johannes Wieder, Sales Manager Logistics.

Power for safe pallets

Once individual products have been bundled or cartons securely closed, there is often still one key step missing in intra- and retail logistics: combining and securing the products on pallets. Mosca is presenting two solutions from its product portfolio: The stretch wrapping machine Saturn S6 The Saturn S6 secures up to 120 loaded pallets per hour for transportation and is therefore suitable for high production throughputs. At the trade fair, a load unit enters the bestseller from Mosca Movitec. The load unit is then wrapped from the outside by a stretch wrapper ring without having to be moved again. The Saturn S6 is particularly suitable for smaller single product cardboard boxes, which are given additional protection from the weather by the stretch wrap film.

On the other side of the roller conveyor, the KZV-111 is waiting for orders at LogiMAT. It straps a package efficiently and with low emissions within 12 seconds thanks to SoniXs. The tongue of the strap guide frame moves through the pallet base and the unit approaches the load unit from above. The KZV-111 is available in different versions with a strap guide tongue or closed strap frame, depending on whether palletized or non-palletized products are to be strapped. It is particularly suitable for palletized goods that are already packed in boxes and do not require additional water protection.
