Cooperation and
certifications
Sustainability is not something we can achieve alone. That is why we enter into cooperative ventures and commit ourselves to organizations that aim to increase sustainability in companies and in the country. In doing so, we are making a clear commitment to sustainable action and aim to create a network for greater sustainability in mechanical engineering and the packaging industry.
Cooperations

Project Alliance Strapping
Fact-based for an exemption: Together with 12 other companies from the European strapping industry, Mosca GmbH has founded the "Project Alliance Strapping" association. The aim of the alliance is to convince the political decision-makers in Brussels of the need for a delegated act as part of the new EU packaging regulation and to exempt strapping bands from the reusable quota provided for therein.
Interzero
Since fall 2023 Mosca has been collaborating with Interzero, a partner specializing in innovative circular solutions and effective plastics recycling, to reach these targets. In addition to recycling, Interzero is responsible for Mosca’s upstream and downstream logistics in the long term: the company will collect used strapping from end customers and return the shredded or recycled material to the Waldbrunn-based company. Transparency regarding the recycling process and the available quantities of PET and PP are crucial for Mosca. “Through our material account, we provide our partners with a digital twin of their raw materials and circular management. This tool enables them to track the status of recycled materials at any time, strategically secure access to raw materials, and thereby close the loop,” emphasizes Britta von Selchow, Head of Sales Circular Solutions at Interzero.
The material account tracks the amount of PET and PP that has been collected for recycling, is currently undergoing recycling, or is available for reuse. Just like a bank account, the digital platform shows the amount of “credit” Mosca has available for producing new strapping but measured in tons of material rather than euros.
WIN-Charta of Baden-Württemberg
We have made a sustainability commitment to the state of Baden-Württemberg. In 2021, we signed the WIN-Charta issued by the Sustainability Business Initiative and thus pledged to comply with the twelve guiding principles laid down in the charta and to further increase our sustainability. The WIN-Charta comprises guiding principles in the areas of human rights, social and employee concerns, environmental issues, economic added value, sustainable and fair finances, anti-corruption and regional added value. More than 250 companies in Baden-Württemberg have already signed the WIN-Charta and declared their sustainability plans and reports.

Certifications
DIN EN ISO 50001 Energy Management System
Producing in an environmentally conscious way while conserving resources: this philosophy is an integral part of our corporate identity. With the aim of reducing energy consumption in the production of our strapping machines and strapping bands, our energy management system was successfully certified according to DIN EN ISO 50001 in 2015. You can find out more about our energy management program here.
DIN EN ISO 14001 Environmental Management System
For its environmental management system, which has been certified according to ISO 14001 standards since August 2023, Mosca has identified and evaluated all aspects of environmental impact at the company’s Waldbrunn and Muckental sites. In line with the certification, Mosca is committed to continuously improving its environmental management system and is already focusing on expanding the measures. As part of the certification of an environmental management system according to ISO 14001, companies assess their environmental impact, stringently develop and initiate environmental targets, and commit to an annual review by an official certification body . Mosca started developing its comprehensive environmental policy and building up its management system in 2016. In doing so, the company has gained from the numerous overlaps with its previous quality and energy management systems.
