Project competition 2024
In the anniversary year of Mosca 's project competition, the diversity of the region and its social commitment is once again reflected in the more than 30 entries. Following the announcement of the tenth project competition, the mechanical engineering company from Waldbrunn received self-made videos from schools, youth clubs and fire departments, while kindergartens competed for the prize money with specially made folders. The winners have now been chosen: "As always, we received a great many projects from all over the region that were worthy of support," says Simone Mosca, Managing Director at Mosca and patron of the competition. "With our prize money this year, we are primarily supporting projects by and for children and young people. We want to make a contribution to the social development and community development of young people in our region - whether with our own, adequately equipped premises or through valuable social projects."
The 2024 project competition concluded with the award ceremony at the company's headquarters in Waldbrunn , where the representatives of the winning projects came together, used the evening to exchange ideas and gather energy for the upcoming implementation phases.
The following projects can look forward to financial support:
Place 1
With a film, the students from the Karachi AG want to show what life is like in a children's home in Pakistan's largest city - and how many similarities the children there have with those from the secondary school in Obrigheim. With the prize money of 3,000 euros, the AG members now want to purchase film equipment and props and learn more about film production in joint workshops. Regular video calls are also planned so that the young filmmakers can get an idea of the challenges and opportunities faced by the children from Karachi and further promote cultural exchange. "The project is an inspiring example of how pupils can also get involved and promote intercultural exchange," says Simone Mosca with regard to the Karachi-AG.
Place 2
This year's second prize, worth 2,000 euros, was awarded to the Wirbelwind kindergarten in Kailbach, where two new child-friendly play areas are to be created in the form of a sandpit and a mud kitchen. The aim is to promote children's sensory and motor development, their creativity and imagination as well as their social skills. The kindergarten also wants to use sustainable, child-friendly materials for the publicly accessible playground and is relying on volunteers from the surrounding area to help build it. "We hope that the project will have an impact beyond the kindergarten children and do good in several areas at once," explains Simone Mosca. "We were particularly impressed by the drawings of the sandpit and mud kitchen that the hedgehog and bear groups drew themselves - we are already looking forward to seeing the finished playground."
Place 3-7
Mosca also supported the third to seventh places with 1,000 euros each. The awards were given to projects such as "Doing good with needle and thread" by the DRK clothing store in Buchen, the modernization of the Haßmersheim youth fire department, the "We plant a pizza" project by the Natura Rübennasen daycare centre, the reconstruction of the youth club in Scheidental and the "Us and the forest" project by the Mosbach nature kindergarten. "By spreading the projects as widely as possible, we try to do good for our region and the people who live in it in as many areas and places as possible," emphasizes Simone Mosca. "We are delighted to be able to invest in the future with the tenth edition of the project competition - namely in children and young people."
