Project competition 2023
They shot videos, made presentations about their projects and showed their commitment to the region: more than 50 clubs, schools and kindergartens from the region entered this year's Mosca GmbH project competition and applied for funding. Mosca is supporting the seven best ideas with a total of 10,000 euros and presented the prize money at a ceremony in Waldbrunn on February 21.
Choosing the winners of the Mosca was once again difficult for the jury members this year: "We received so many creative and exciting applications from all over the region. It gave us great pleasure to see how great and diverse the social, integrative and cultural commitment is here - and how much we as a company can give back," says Managing Director Simone Mosca.
Schools, kindergartens and clubs were invited to apply with their creative ideas and passion projects. Mosca did not specify a theme: "Our aim is to showcase and support our region in all its diversity - and to give space to more unusual ideas that would otherwise have no chance of receiving financial support," says Simone Mosca.
Place 1
Multi-sensory space enables new experiences for people with disabilities
This year's first prize of 3,000 euros was awarded to the Johannes Deaconry in MosbachIt is planning a multimedia room in its day care center in which residents with complex disabilities can have new experiences thanks to interactive images, sounds and light and scent elements, discover their senses in a playful way and explore previously inaccessible places - regardless of their motor and cognitive abilities.
Place 2
New drone technology for fawn rescue
Mosca is also supporting the purchase of drone technology with 2,000 euros, which the second-placed association Rehkitzrettung Buchen needed. The association wants to use this to protect fawns from collisions with combine harvesters beyond Buchen. The volunteers use thermal imaging drones to fly over fields before the harvest in order to find the fawns, which are often hidden in the tall grass, in good time and bring them to safety. Last year alone, the teams rescued 230 fawns. With the new drone technology, the wildlife conservationists are planning to work with farmers and hunters to expand the area of operation and give more fawns a second chance at life.
Platz 3 to 7
Places three to seven also reflect the diversity of clubs, schools and kindergartens in the region
around Waldbrunn . Mosca supports the numerous committed people with 1,000 euros each for their project.
Raised bed
The new (semi-)raised beds at the Neckargerach Neckargerach Protestant kindergarten are to become a highlight: There, the teachers want to introduce the children to growing fruit and vegetables and give them an understanding of gardening. The children are allowed to decide for themselves which types of fruit or vegetables they want to plant. They are not only responsible for growing and caring for them, but also for harvesting them - including eating them at the end of the gardening season, of course. The children have prominent support in implementing the project: Niklas and Felix Strein from Neckargerach, known as the "Beetfluencers", want to help build the beds. The brothers have been growing their own vegetables since 2020, filming their work and posting the videos on their Instagram channel.
Fire department lockers
The Donebach/Mörschenhardt youth fire department wants to put the prize money to practical use: The fourteen children and young people will use it to purchase lockers for their helmets, uniforms and boots in the clubhouse. This way, they will be quickly and well equipped for their next deployment.
School song
This is how the Winterhauch elementary school in Waldbrunn wants to develop its own school song together with its pupils and record it on site. In this way, the elementary school is strengthening the community among the pupils, promoting creativity and social skills - and creating an additional highlight for the upcoming opening of the renovated school site.
Ceremonial award ceremony on site in Waldbrunn
The award ceremony at Mosca 's headquarters in Waldbrunn in February was used by representatives of all the award-winning projects, Mosca 's management and numerous visitors to talk to each other, find out about the other projects and make new contacts. "In addition to providing financial support, it is also important for us to offer committed people in our region the opportunity to get to know each other, exchange ideas - and perhaps even initiate new projects and collaborations," summarizes Simone Mosca.
