Project competition 2018

The Oberschefflenz elementary school sees language as a means of integration and was therefore impressed this year with its "Media concept for children with a migration background" project, for which it received a donation of over €250. Under the motto "Together in a learning group and yet completely individually", the children are provided with iPads with learning apps and programs with which they can practise and deepen their knowledge of teaching topics and learning content. The focus here is on supporting the children on their individual learning path. The "German as a second language" learning programs are designed to help children with a migration background improve their German language skills and thus integrate more quickly into the group. The complicated German grammar is to be taught in a motivating way. A basic framework for this concept already exists, but is to be expanded further with the help of the donation.

There has also been a joint school library for several years between the Pestalozzi-Realschule in Mosbach with the Nicolaus-Kistner-Gymnasium. However, it has not been used as intensively as desired, which is why it was renovated a year ago. The rather old-fashioned equipment at the time was replaced by more modern equipment, and old books were removed and new ones purchased. The library is already being used more and more by pupils in the lower grades. The two "library girls", as a secondary school teacher affectionately describes two pupils, give out books, tidy them up again and sort the entire library stock. Mosca is supporting this project with a donation of €500. This will be used to further expand the shared library and to purchase books for the upper grades so that sufficient reading material can be made available for all age groups.

A secondary school also received a donation of €1,000, namely the secondary school in Eberbachwith its project "Transylvania with a bite - a group of pupils explores the land and people of Transylvania". Behind this name is a cultural excursion to Pretai - a small village in Romania. There, a group of pupils will spend a week in Transylvania and explore the centuries-old culture of the people living there. In addition, the young people will be involved in an extensive work project to spruce up the Pretai church and sing, make music and do handicrafts with the Roma children who live there. The main purpose of this excursion is to broaden the young adults' horizons, give them new impressions and, last but not least, teach them intercultural skills, openness and tolerance. The donation will primarily be used to support students with limited financial resources and thus enable them to take part in this trip. In addition, the sum provided will be used to finance handicraft and writing materials for the Roma children in order to reduce the overall costs.

The highest donation totaling €2,850 went to the "Pink Floyd: The Wall" project from the St. Kilian children's and youth home in Walldürn. The project will result in a performance of the musical "The Wall" in November 2019. In terms of content, it is about the teenager "Pink", who isolates himself from the outside world and builds a wall around himself. During the concert, this wall will be erected between the musicians and the audience in the form of a projection screen. The aim is to incorporate numerous small contributions from the pupils and thus create a large overall work of art that will ultimately be presented on the wall. In the course of the action, the pupils will also deal with various topics such as loneliness, loss, depression and social exclusion. The aim is to bring people from different life situations and different generations together and thus promote mutual understanding. The donation from Mosca GmbH has made it possible for the children's and youth home to take part in this project in the first place - so there was great joy at the award ceremony.

The SV 1929 Wagenschwend e.V.which received support totaling € 2,000 for the "Bambini Spielraum" project. The young athletes will particularly benefit from this project: The multifunctional room in the Wagenschwend sports center is to be set up as a Bambini playroom so that the little ones do not have to miss out on their training even in bad weather or in winter. The donation will mainly be used for play and gymnastics equipment, such as gym mats, ropes and rings. Storage facilities and a jukebox for the children will also be purchased. The management of Mosca has already been invited to a first session of gymnastics and games with the Bambinis.

Last but not least, the project "Redesign of the play and meeting area on the Limespfad in Trienz" of the Förderverein Kinder und Jugend Fahrenbach e.V. convinced the jury of the competition. The association was delighted to receive a donation of € 1,000. The play and meeting area was inaugurated back in 2003 and has been "spruced up" every year since then, as the ravages of time have left their mark here too. However, the "watchtower" has since had to be demolished for safety reasons. With the financial support of Mosca , this is now to be rebuilt and the site is to be equipped with further elements, including on the subject of "Romans", which is to be taken up again due to the immediate proximity to the course of the historic Limes. In future, there are also plans to create cross-generational offers, such as outdoor fitness equipment, as well as opportunities for people with limited mobility.
