Project competition 2017
Many creative and interesting project ideas cannot be supported by state funds. This is where Mosca project competition comes in: Associations, schools and kindergartens/crèches have the chance to receive financial support for their project with their ideas. Social, integrative and cultural commitment in conjunction with sustainability and the promotion of education are at the heart of the support. Projects from the communities in the Neckar-Odenwald, Rhine-Neckar and Odenwald districts are supported.
"As a company, we have been rooted here in Waldbrunn for many years. Many of our employees are involved in voluntary work and support clubs and organizations in the region," explains Timo Mosca. "We also want to use the competition to support ideas that convey social or cultural values - and thus promote our region in the long term." As a traditional family business, Mosca has firmly anchored social commitment and responsibility for the environment, the region and towards its employees in its corporate values for a long time.
After the responsible donation committee selected a total of nine projects, the award ceremony took place at the Waldbrunn site on Tuesday, January 9, 2018. After a short welcoming speech by Simone and Timo Mosca , the respective donation cheques were handed over and the award-winning projects were briefly presented.
The following projects can look forward to financial support:
The Karate-Do Club Neckargerach e.V. was supported by Mosca in the purchase of new martial arts mats with a total of €1,000, covering more than two thirds of the costs incurred. It does not see itself as a local club, but as a supra-regional and cross-generational association with numerous members from the entire Neckar-Odenwald district.
With a focus on the concept of heart education, the "Villa Kunterbunt" Protestant kindergarten from Diedesheim is planning to establish a family center and is receiving a total of €500 from Mosca . The kindergarten is primarily concerned with the topic of emotional intelligence, which, according to the kindergarten management, is a decisive characteristic with regard to later self-confidence and problem solving. This concept will also play a major role in the development of the family center, which is to be set up not only for children, but also for single parents, refugees, etc.
This project of the Schule am Limes in Osterburken was sponsored by Mosca with €300. The school works closely with the Residenz Sonneneck senior citizens' center. During weekly visits, the twelve or so pupils get involved by playing with the residents, going for walks, doing arts and crafts or helping them to work independently. This project has a high level of sustainability and integrity, as many of the children continue to visit the senior center regularly after graduation. The donation is used to cover the cost of materials and food.
As a voluntary organization, the Neckar-Odenwald-Kreis District Association for Child Protection e.V. is primarily based on the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. In order to comply with the right to child welfare and care, the Child Protection Association offers "babysitter training" for young people aged 14 and over, which includes a first aid course as well as basic knowledge and legal principles in dealing with children. With the self-defense course "Defend yourself - but the right way", the association focuses on the right to protection from violence and abuse. This course focuses on the prevention of violence, self-assertion and the promotion of civil courage. Mosca supports the Kinderschutzbund in these projects by subsidizing the lecturers' fees with a total of €750.
The History Club of the Nicolaus-Kistner-Gymnasium in Mosbach has entered into a cooperation with the town archive, the Mosbach town museum and tourism marketing for this year's project "Look at - Mosbach history(ies)". In this project, the pupils are collecting stories about pictures provided to them for the Mosbach summer as well as quotes from contemporary witnesses. In order to record all these stories and quotes in an accompanying booklet, Mosca is supporting the history club with €300 to print this brochure.
Books are the most important companions for children in terms of their education and upbringing. For this reason, Mosca supports the three kindergartens in Waldbrunn with € 750 for their "Leseinsel - Bücherlust" project. In this project, the kindergartens plan to purchase picture books, non-fiction books, coloring books, etc. for their reading island in order to offer the children both a larger selection and a cozy place to learn to read.
The Lohrtalschule, a primary and secondary school in Mosbachreceived €500 from Mosca for its lunchtime supervision. The so-called "chill room" was set up especially for pupils who unfortunately cannot attend lunch in the canteen for financial reasons. Around 40 children currently attend this lunchtime supervision service. The donation provided by Mosca will now be used to modernize the equipment and furniture for this room and to give the entire facility a more homely and cozy atmosphere.
The VfR Waldkatzenbach has entered our project competition with the creation of a bike park. This will not only be open to members of the club, but also to the general public and will therefore be a sustainable, community-promoting leisure activity. For the municipality of Waldbrunn in particular, where Mosca 's main site is located, the bike park will be a new and interesting way to spend leisure time or engage in sporting activities, the establishment of which was supported by Mosca with a total of €2,000.
Last but not least, the school company of the Realschule Eberbach a sponsorship from Mosca. This prepares pupils at a young age for everyday working life and teaches them important qualities and values, such as respect and friendly interaction with colleagues, as well as practical content. The focus here is on the production of finger food in the catering sector. The students learn how to prepare all the finger food themselves, without additives, colorings or flavorings, and also gain their first insights into accounting. Mosca donated a total of €500 to the school company to purchase serving plates, transport baskets and a modern waffle iron.
