A long-standing partnership

There has been a close partnership between Mosca and Johannes-Diakonie in Mosbach for many years. Numerous projects and shared experiences have resulted in more than just cooperation; friendships have developed between many project participants on both sides. It is therefore a matter of course for us to continue to promote this partnership and to support each other in projects.

More than just a hut for the garden

The walls and roof have been in place for some time. Now the interior work has also begun in the garden shed at Johannesberg School in Mosbach. Electricity and lighting were installed during the volunteer project for trainees. An outdoor kitchen is soon to follow, and then it will be possible to cook in the school garden. The pupils at Johannesberg School are looking forward to it.

A place that brings people together

The stainless steel gleams in the sun and the Mosca is emblazoned on the swivel arm. The barbecue is the centerpiece and eye-catcher of the new barbecue area at the Johannesberg School, which was set up with the active involvement of Mosca GmbH employees. Five Mosca built the voluminous swivel barbecue within two weeks under the guidance of their trainer Franz Hamm. This was followed by three days of work at the Johannes-Diakonie Mosbach special education and counseling center, during which Johannesberg students not only set up the grill and benches, but also prepared a wooden terrace. The school management, teachers, pupils and Mosca were able to inaugurate the barbecue area in perfect weather - and enjoy barbecue food and drinks on the new terrace. "It turned out great," said principal Mario Kiefer about what is now the third project that Mosca have helped to implement at Johannesberg School. Kiefer, as well as Johannes-Diakonie volunteer coordinator Tanja Bauer and teacher Christina Pfeiffer, thanked Managing Director Simone Mosca, Head of Training Oliver Krieger and all the other employees involved for their commitment.

The new barbecue area is now set to become a place for people to come together, including inclusive ones. "It has already become one thanks to the joint work of pupils and Mosca," says Pfeiffer, who supervised the project with pupils from the vocational school. In future, the barbecue area will be used for soccer tournaments and other events. It will also help to teach practical life skills, such as how to prepare food. The pupils will also be involved in the further design of the area. For example, a wooden shelf is to be built. A wheelchair access is also planned so that pupils with severe disabilities can also easily reach the barbecue area. So there is still a lot to do for Pfeiffer and her pupils. But thanks to Mosca , they can now enjoy their breaks at the new barbecue area.

One year - many projects

Volunteering at the Johannesberg School

The project "Designing a creative workshop" had been planned at the Johannesberg School for some time and was put into practice with the support of two trainees as well as Oliver Krieger, Head of Technical Training, and Franz Hamm, Mechanical Instructor.

In a two-day project, they transformed the old workrooms into a "creative workshop": old workbenches were sanded down and repainted, the work area in the middle of the room was given a custom-made strip with magnetic holders for tools, machines were fitted into the new separate work corner and a mobile, wheelchair-accessible workstation was created. Space for work materials is now also provided by a storage shelf that was installed in the next room.

However, it wasn't just the pupils at Johannesberg School who benefited from their new creative workshop; it was also a formative experience for the two trainees to implement the project in collaboration with the pupils. Julian Schork was impressed: "It's actually quite simple and straightforward to work cooperatively with weaker students in a team and automatically take on responsibility in the process."

Learning cabinet of the Johannesberg School

Concentrating on their work during the school day is not always easy for some pupils at Johannesberg School. Study booths, desks divided by wooden panels and equipped with computers, create a quiet environment in which pupils can concentrate more easily. During a two-day volunteer assignment, three such cubicles were built in collaboration with Mosca . The project was made possible by donations from Mosca GmbH and the "Ladies' Circle 1 Mosbach" service club. However, the financial commitment of Mosca and "Ladies' Circle" made even more possible: trainer Franz Hamm, Head of Commercial Training Simone Steinhäuser and budding industrial mechanics Christian Schick and Lukas Proksch painted the room a friendly yellow. The trainees also donated a basketball hoop and ball - a welcome activity for the breaks at the school. But the pupils aged 14 to 16 also got involved, renovating tables, chairs and a shelf. A cozy corner sofa completes the room, which students and teachers can now use for work.

At the donation handover in the classrooms, those responsible at Johannesberg School thanked the two supporters: "We are all very happy that you have made the new room design possible," said Pfeiffer. "Our pupils are very happy to be able to work in such great conditions."
