Trainee projects
in the 1st year of training

Crafts, cooking, baking and organizing a scavenger hunt - that's also part of an apprenticeship at Mosca GmbH . Since May 2023, trainees in their first year of training have taken on a social project. The aim: to promote and strengthen social skills and a sense of responsibility. "These are important skills that reflect our five Mosca: Openness, trust, appreciation, responsibility and a sense of togetherness," emphasizes Dirk Brislinger, Head of Vocational Training at Mosca GmbH.

2025
Social commitment

As they do every year, our first-year apprentices have organized an important social project. As a company, social commitment is close to our hearts and we are actively committed to helping others. This year too, our apprentices were particularly motivated and were divided into several groups to visit various social institutions.

The facilities visited included Johannes-Diakonie, Caritas in Guttenbach and the Klinge youth welfare facility. On these days, our trainees had the opportunity to help shape the activities in the facilities and spend valuable time with the people there.

Project 1: Decorating the Christmas tree with the Johannes-Diakonie senior citizens' center

Just in time for Christmas, our trainees made their way to Mosbach to the Johannes-Diakonie senior citizens' center. Packed with everything they needed to paint Christmas tree baubles, our trainees were warmly welcomed by the center's residents. It was a cozy get-together with lots of laughter and work. The decorated baubles found their place on the Christmas tree on the same day. The Christmas party could begin - old and young rang in the festive season together!

2024
Spending time with people

In 2024, four social institutions benefited from the trainees' commitment: Johannes Diakonie, a charity for the disabled in Mosbach, the children's home in Eberbach, the AWO retirement home in Diedesheim and the Kinder- und Jugenddorf Klinge e.V. in Seckach. A total of 24 trainees and DHBW students from various professions - including industrial clerks, industrial mechanics and electronics technicians - took part in the project days. "The project teams were a wild mix. This allowed our trainees and students to get to know each other better across departments," explains Brislinger.

Six trainees formed each team. "There was a project manager in each project team. Of course, he or she also had a certain amount of responsibility." The teams acted completely independently. They planned their project days in coordination with the organizations themselves - from the idea to the planning to the implementation on site. Brislinger was only present at the first meeting, but stayed in the background afterwards. The only condition: "It wasn't about collecting donations. Our trainees and students should have direct contact with the people and spend time with them," says the Head of Vocational Training.

Project 1: Baking cookies with people with disabilities

The first group spent time with the pupils from the Johannesberg School of the Diakonie in Mosbach. Their idea: to spend a day baking cookies together and decorate them the next day. For the six trainees from Mosca , it was an experience with an aha effect, reports Brislinger. "Many of the trainees were surprised at how much the people there can actually do!" Despite their limited motor skills, they managed to bake the cookies wonderfully. And at the end, everyone - including the employees of Diakonie - was allowed to try the crispy Christmas cookies. "A complete success! Everyone was delighted," sums up Brislinger.

2023
Beautifying St. John's Diaconia

In 2023, the trainees dedicated themselves to beautifying Johannes-Diakonie. They spent a lot of time together and worked together to achieve an appealing result. The Johannesberg School at Johannes-Diakonie was involved in the first project, while the participants in the vocational training area (BBB) were involved in the second project.

Project 1: Bicycle stand

For their first project, the trainees at Mosca were visited by pupils from Johannesberg School. Together, they assembled and embellished bicycle racks for future use. The trainees then installed the bike racks at the Johannesberg School and once again had a great time with the pupils. The students gave the trainees a tour of the school and also presented previous projects that were created in collaboration with Mosca .

Project 2: New seating areas
