Leading Scottish Sawmill Installs Three More Strappers From Mosca Direct

28.06.2018

Scotland’s largest independent sawmill company has installed three new strapping machines supplied by Mosca Direct – bringing the total number of Mosca machines it owns to twelve

The installations at James Jones & Sons Ltd in Lockerbie, include a rare configuration to the Mosca RO-MR-I, which was built to be installed upside down to accommodate the way timber is fed at the plant.

In addition, James Jones & Sons has purchased a KOF and a ROMP-5, all directly from Mosca Direct Ltd, the wholly-owned UK subsidiary of Mosca. They are in addition to four RO-MR-I machines which are already on site.

Mosca strapping systems are renowned for superior performance in a broad range of applications.

The Mosca RO-MR-I at James Jones & Sons was specially built to be installed upside down at the request of the customer. This is to minimise contamination by sawdust particles falling into the sealing head. The machine uses a heat-weld sealing system with electronic temperature control. Standard features also include energy-saving direct drives and a wear-free, controlled strap track system, as well as automatic strap feed, strap end detection with ejection of remaining strap and quick strap coil change.

The Mosca ROMP-5 is also built around Mosca’s DC brushless direct drive technology. It’s combination of convenience, speed and reliability make it the superior solution for production driven users who want top performance from their production process.

The Mosca KOF vertical strapper is designed with a lower sealing head for easy integration into production lines, as well as lateral movement out of the line if required.

Incorporated in 1905, James Jones & Sons has grown organically and through acquisition into Scotland’s largest independent saw miller and one of the leading suppliers of British timber in the UK.

Eddie Balfour, James Jones & Sons General Manager, says: “Mosca machines have proven their reliability and suitability, which is why we have come back for more. Purchasing the latest machines through Mosca Direct made the process trouble-free and simple from inquiry to installation and we know we have expert customer support available.”

Located throughout Scotland, the company’s five sawmills boast capacities ranging from 20,000m³ to 200,000m³, feature state-of-the-art Scandinavian sawing systems, 3D laser technology and X-ray strength grading equipment.

Mosca equipment, servicing, spare parts and strapping materials are available in the UK from Mosca Direct of Cotgrave, Nottingham.
