Automatic Pallet Strapping enables 40% reduction on manual labour costs

11.09.2018

Cambrian Concrete Products achieve 40% reduction on manual labour costs with the introduction of Automatic Pallet Strapping with SoniXs from Mosca

Family owned manufacturer and supplier of concrete building goods, Cambrian Concrete Products, has turned to Mosca for an Automatic Strapping Machine for its production plant in North Wales.

Cambrian Concrete Products who supply high-quality core components to the construction & building industries, has previously secured its concrete blocks onto pallets using an arduous, slow and labour intensive hand-strapping system.

Richard Butler, Business Development Manager at Mosca Direct Ltd, advised Nick Lloyd, Managing Director of Cambrian Concrete Products, of the benefits of a Mosca pallet-strapping solution; specifically developed for brick & block customers.  Mosca’s KOV-315 is a fully automatic horizontal pallet-strapping machine, suitable for integration into conveying lines and capable of applying horizontal strap at varying and easily programmable heights.

The senior management team at Cambrian Concrete Products were impressed by the high-quality German technology on offer from Mosca and the fact that the KOV-315 interfaces with other systems.  When specifying the new equipment, the forward thinking business opted for Mosca’s patented SoniXs strap sealing head, which is extremely fast and utilises ultrasonic vibrations to weld the plastic strap ends together.  Since the SoniXs sealing head does not melt the strap, there is no plastic residue build-up on the sealing head; a consequence often associated with heat and friction sealing.  This significantly decreases operator intervention, enabling longer running periods and higher throughput.

At the Cambrian Concrete Products production plant, blocks are stacked 3 or 4 levels high.  They then travel down a conveyor to the KOV-315, which applies 1 or 2 straps (depending on the customer’s requirement) ready for transportation.  This automated process is saving considerable time and resource on the production line.  “We are really pleased with how the machine is performing.  It has met our expectations and helped us to make significant savings.  Since we began using the Automatic Pallet Strapping machine from Mosca, we have reduced our manual labour costs by 40% and increased production speed which is great news for our business,” comments Nick Lloyd.
