Sustainability at MOSCA

Sustainability has become increasingly important, especially in recent years. Companies – notably in the packaging industry – need to address this in a wide variety of areas. Convinced that this is the right way to ensure a stable future, we have long been concerned with this topic and with the associated question of how we can increase sustainability at MOSCA.

Sustainability itself is a very broad topic and encompasses the areas of economy, ecology and social issues. It means dealing responsibly with our environment to safeguard its long-term future. To achieve this, the environment, the economy and social coexistence all need to go hand in hand.

Ecology

For us at MOSCA, protecting the environment means not only making our processes environmentally friendly, but also optimizing our products in this regard. We are pursuing this goal, for example, by using recycled materials in our strapping, sustainable components in our machines, and energy management objectives in our production processes.

Economy

Long-term thinking and healthy growth are the key economic factors within a sustainable company. For us, this means that as well as conserving resources, we also ensure that our products and technologies have a long service life – through high-quality materials and continuous maintenance and services.

Through healthy corporate growth, we are also broadening our local presence, which means that we are within short distances of our customers.

Social

Taking responsibility for our actions, our environment, partners, customers and employees – this is what lies behind the social aspect of sustainability at MOSCA.

Corporate Social Responsibility

We feel a commitment to our region and our fellow human beings and are consequently actively engaged on their behalf. Through projects in the region, sponsoring and partnerships, we strive to do our part for sustainable coexistence and stand up for social justice.

You can find out more about our social commitment here.

Education is also very important to us in the context of sustainability and social responsibility. That’s why, among other things, we support the Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University (Duale Hochschule Baden-Württemberg, DHBW) Mosbach as a Gold Partner.

Code of Conduct and Human Rights Policy Statement

For MOSCA, the concept of sustainability also includes the establishment of long-term and trusting relationships – not only with employees, partners and suppliers, but also with our customers and our region. In our Code of Conduct, we have defined the relevant and important standards according to which we act within the company. We see it as a matter of course to implement this framework and to insist on compliance with it.

We respect and support the principles espoused within international norms, principles, codes and laws relating to human rights, including without limitation, the International Bill of Human Rights, UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the core labor standards of the ILO (International Labour Organization). Respect for human rights is an important core value found in our Code of Conduct, which requires our production, operations as well as those of our business and contractual partners to comply with all applicable laws, regulations and guidelines relating to human rights,

Our commitment to help support deforestation:

Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. We are always looking for new ways to help reduce our carbon footprint and the impact of our business activities on the environment; whether though the greater use of technology, sourcing of sustainable materials or helping to sponsor and support eco-friendly projects.

At Mosca Direct, we are proud to have joined forces with environmental organisation Ecologi to support their reforestation efforts. From 1st February 2022 we will be planting trees with machine, service and strap orders.

From February, we will be donating the following trees to Ecologi with every order placed.

  • 50 trees with every Machine purchased
  • 10 trees with every Strap order
  • 25 trees with every Service contract placed

The Mosca Direct Forest provides a virtual representation of the real trees that are planted as part of our efforts. Please bookmark the link and watch our progress as we grow our forest. We have donated 100 trees to start our forest!

Each tree in the forest is responsibly planted with Eden Reforestation, who ensure their reforestation projects have a positive human impact as well as a positive environmental impact. They hire and train local people to plant new trees, they plant native species, and their seedling survival rate is a whopping 80%. Through this partnership we'll be helping to reduce carbon pollution, creating employment for local families, and restoring wildlife habitats - all helping us accelerate to a more sustainable future.

Join us today and let's get planting!
