Digitalisation in strapping: Mosca presentation at Drupa

15.04.2021

Digitalisation solutions for the future of strapping will be introduced in a tech talk presentation by Mosca innovation manager Andreas Ding on 21 April from 11:20 to 11:40 a.m. at this year's virtual Drupa.

Mosca integrates digital applications to optimise the availability and utilisation of strapping machines. The company is offering insights into the latest solutions at Drupa, the leading trade show for print technologies, that is taking place online this year. Mosca innovation manager Andreas Ding, who will be presenting at the virtual trade fair, says: “For every application, we consider the question of how digital solutions could optimise the process. This approach helps us to ensure that our company and our customers are prepared for the challenges ahead.” For example, Mosca is developing a smart coil management system that detects a customer's strapping material running low. RFID tags integrated into the strapping coils monitor strap and inventory data and send this information via IOT to Mosca, where a new order is automatically initiated.

Transparency across machines and systems

In the future, digital solutions will enable customers to receive more targeted support in the event of malfunctions. Condition monitoring, for example, records motor temperatures and other key figures for electrical systems 24/7. This information is stored and visualised on dashboards. Any changes in performance can be detected and resolved at an early stage, even before a breakdown occurs. If there is a malfunction, the web application informs the customer about the problem and will suggest possible solutions.

Mosca is also planning a practical solution for customers who are not ready to invest in buying a machine. The company's pay-per-use model is designed to waive the purchase costs and only charge for actual machine use. In other words, the customer simply pays for the machine's performance and Mosca covers maintenance or troubleshooting.

Visitors to the virtual Drupa event can follow the technical presentation live on 21 April on the trade show website. After his talk, Andreas Ding will be available online to answer questions.
